I recently had the pleasure to photograph a beautiful Bat Mitzvah at the Galloping Hill Golf Club in Kenilworth, New Jersey.  When planning a wedding or event, the decor is key to the mood you want to convey.  As soon as I arrived, I was giddy as I laid eyes on the color palette I would have to play with.  Pink, blue, and white party decor was our backdrop and it was awesome!  Let’s back up though…Emma’s bat mitzvah, of course, began with her portrait session in Westfield, New Jersey.  We used the bricks, alleys, and streets to capture the second coming of one of my favorite heroines…..Wonder Woman

Made my job so easy, this kid.  Next, we shot some rehearsal photographs making sure to capture all the little details that made the day so special!

We were able to use the backdrop to get some fantastic family formals.  Although there is nothing formal about these shots.  Loved the family’s pre-party energy!

After setting up my own backlighting, I was able to dive into the party and get some really fun shots that make you feel as if you’re in the party.  You know, I used to breakdance eons ago…I’m so happy it’s still a thing.  For the breakdancing, I was sure to position way low to get the moves.  Another thing I love is what long hair does when in motion.  It’s something no one ever sees, but you get some interesting waves and shapes.

nj_wedding_photographer_reception party_event_decor_balloonsIf you’re thinking about a fun color palette for your next event, I’ll cast one vote for pink and aqua.  Also, as you can see from the images above, hanging the huge balloons on the ceiling added so much to the usual boring white ceiling.  It added another dimension to an already beautiful backdrop.  Thanks…well…for making my job easy. 😉
